Legacy forum images missing and possible bye bye
Filip CZ

Hello.

I was looking for some pictures from fantastic Justin car thread but they are not loading anymore.

This is one of the links that won't load. Do you have same experience like me?

This would be a major problem If the old pictures are lost completely as most of the threads will be useless without the pictures.

I'm personally very sad about the way this forum software works (notifications of new messages and threads not working for me and Club Express team is unable to fix it). There is great community here that is really helpful every time there is a real issue. I'm not missing daily chat about weather and other Facebook style rubbish. But the forum software itself is just getting worst and worst (e.g. limited pictures resolution that is not enough for detailed pictures). I'm considering leaving this forum because there is no point to pay for something that just not work.

Please let me know your feelings about it. I think there are only two options now. Fix it (not the old pictures only)! or Shut it down!

PS: By shut down I mean conversion to PDFs that would be available for off-line use as there is still a lot of valuable information in the text.

Filip CZ, I feel your pain big time.

In an attempt to see if the pictures on Justin's thread, created by Art Love (bless his heart for all he has done for this forum), I used the Wayback Machine and searched for the thread. The URL for the Wayback Machine is: https://archive.org/web/ -- and once there, I simply searched for the following term, "M-100.co" without the quotation marks. I obtained a number of hits, where their spider crawled the M-100.co website, and sought the oldest, 22 Aug 2016.

Some of the pictures are still out there and obtainable, but some are just little boxes that I am unable to open and/or view. It could be that I need the correct "plug in," "extension," or "addon" in order to view the pictures. I'm not that internet savvy, and I am using Firefox on a Windows 10 computer.

I will attach a "screen snap shot" of what I found on the Wayback Machine for "M-100.co/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3443&whichpage=9"

As you will note, some of the images are viewable, and some are not.

Perhaps one of our members can jump in and assist???

I am also not thrilled about losing the pictures on this invaluable website -- and I REFUSE to join FB in order to see what is available there.

The Wayback Machine screen shot below was captured on 22 Aug 2016. So far, I have only been able to view a few pictures, and many, many unviewable "boxes" that are supposed to be pictures, from page 1 (the oldest) to page 9, which was posted here on 03-25-2010. I was also able to view some "photo bucket" pictures.

The webmaster who is hosting the M-100 domain is doing a poopy job, and I can't believe they have lost so much valuable material, in particular, the pictures.

I'm also attaching a pic of my 6.3 when I was picking it up from Peter Krausert , aka Herr 600, with Peter standing next to my car at his home/shop in Fallbrook. (And, before anybody asks, this is not the original color.) Peter always had a yard full of cars, with there being a number of Pullmans, 600s, 6.3s, and many, many other beautiful rigs that were waiting for parts, or for Peter's attention. If Joe Edone is still a member, I may have a few pics of his 600. If anybody else is interested, I can post all the pics I have from when I visited with Peter Krausert. Sadly, Peter passed away some years ago, I believe in 2011.

It will be interesting to see if the pictures I attached will even show up here on this thread.

I have great news! The pictures are back.

I made some research and found that pictures are hosted out of clubexpress. They are at private hosted server at tektonic.net.

I got in touch with tektonic tech support and they found the server dead. They restarted the server and luckily it was enough to make it work again!

Still there is an open question who is paying for the server (it's covered now I was told) and who is responsible for technical maintenance. Any ideas?

It's important to got some answers as the servers are not dying without a reason and it will happen soon again. The restart may not be enough next time and pictures will be finally lost.

Interesting and great research. I will send an email to Charles Hart and Keith Morgan. They should have the access & ability to explore and resolve. Thank you for your excellent diligence.
