Fuel Pump options - new pump install
Aaron Smith

Hi everyone,

I have a 1971 6.3 and there is currently no fuel pump or fuel lines (car was running on LPG). Thought I should go for a new fuel pump and make any brackets and install.

Any recommendation for a fuel pump brand & model to suit? Have searched the forums but haven't found anything definitive as yet.

Thank you.

The MB original fuel pump would be A 001 091 52 01, still available as it seems.

It replaces: A 001 091 34 01 and A 001 091 46 01.

According to XENTRY (EPC) it needs to be supplemented with mounting details:

+1 A 108 470 02 81 fitting

+3 A 126 988 00 11 rubber buffer

+3 N 000127 005203 washer

+3 N 000127 006203 washer

+3 N 000933 006016 bolt

+3 N 000934 005004 nut

And the car was running on LPG ?? Interesting, I hope it did no harm to the engine.

126.039.1A 1988 Dunkelblau (M117 so a bit slower)

+ A few other MBs used for daily transport

LPG used to be a pretty common conversion for cars in Australia. This is the second car i know of that was a 6.3 on LPG. If setup correctly will be ok for engine health, even better sometimes as LPG cars dont suffer from overfuelling and damaging the bores.

Welcome to the group Aaron.

You can also use a D-Jet pump if an original short body proves hard to find and expensive.

Actually the expensive is a given :)

Thanks for the replies folks. Found a long pump in the pile of parts, will test and see if it works and doesnt leak, otherwise will install a 3.5 DJet pump. Buying an original short pump is crazy money!
