Did 6.3 have foam under hood pad?
Author Last Post

Thanks for the reply Jack. Mine is a 1969 USA version and it has a thick foam pad falling apart in big dry chunks onto the engine. Available replacements say they’re for the smaller engine cars, and I have read that the padding puts the 6.3 at risk for vapor lock due to heat retention.

Gee, I don't know. I have had my 1971 since 1983 and it has a foam pad under the hood. I think it was original. The right hand drive cars have a tilted motor and a cut out to make room at the cowl. Art Love (deceased) wrote a note or two about the differences. Earlier cars might also be different. Some features were unique to the market where they were delivered. You might get multiple answers.

I’ve seen the statement that 6.3 did not come with a foam underhood pad because it wouldn’t fit with the big engine, is that true?
