6.3

Thinking about selling #74
Ingvar Froroth

This is probably of no interest to members residing outside of Europe, but anyway:

My early 1968 300SEL 6.3 may be up for sale before this winter. I have during the past 13 years done a lot of restoring work and now I find that I have a wonderful car that meets most of the original specifications.

Next major project would be to take care of the bodywork (some minor corrosion spots) and give the car a first class paintwork. I would like to hand this project over to a new and enthusiastic owner - or the new owner could ignore this and simply enjoy the astonishing performance of this fully equipped luxury saloon.

The car may be auctioned later during the fall but I will welcome any serious interest from M-100 Group members.

As it turns out I need to have the rear level valve restored before I can put this beautiful car up on an auction. Of course the rear level valve should start behaving badly right at this time... The two front level valves have been restored recently and all four bellows have been replaced. Air suspension is fantastic when it all works.

Spring of 2025 will most certainly see this early 6.3 specimen on an auction in Europe.

In the past few days, a really nice looking black 6.3 was sold on Bring a Trailer for over $70 K USD.

Yes, USD 73.279 seems like a bargain if the restoration has been done properly.

That car has almost the same amount of extras as my car, only mine is an early 1968 with all the specifics that means. And a beige velour interior, no leather here :)
