My every day solution is margarine. Sure, butter will do, but margarine can be kept in the garage. It works on paint or your hands. Tree resins or pitch as we call it can be a killer. It can eat certain types of paint. Pitch can removes clear coat finishes in as little as two days. I have witnessed pitch removing the base coat in three days. Always do a quick check after every drive through a forest. Early summer is pitch dripping time. Get it off as fast as possible. Commercial tar removers work real fast. They have a strong kerosene smell. Ron Bunting of Oz recommended kerosene years ago. It works real fast. Save $, just keep a small spray bottle with kerosene handy.
