Well, I've rounded up 10-15 issues but you already have all of them on this topic...I'm still looking for more, i think I was a charter member so I should have the really early stuff...the earliest I've found so far is Spring 92. Mike

Mike, if you are willing to donate them to the club for us to distribute if a member is looking for a back issue then I would take them as part of my job and the club would benefit the membership.
Let me know your thoughts.

Hi Guys, I saw this and remembered that I have a stash of several of the original Lode Stars as well as years of the STAR magazine. Alas I've moved on and these are just sitting in boxes or on a bookshelf collecting dust. I'd rather pass them on to someone from this group if there is interest in the original copies...alot of the ones I have have been shown in this thread. Drop me a line if someone needs mine for their collection. Mike

#6 May 1993 10 pages Editor John Olson Contents:- 6.3 article on the cover, editorial on page 2, questionaire and ballot results page 3, a 6.3 Forum on technical matters by the late Ron Cushway of the UK on pages 4, 5 and 6 with the first advertisements also on page 5 (Paul Russell and Company)and 6 (Star Motors), Safety Net and membership application form on page 7, the first list of Board member applicants and ballot paper on pages 8 and 9 and a brief article on the Nallinger coupe on page 10 #7 November 1993 16 pages Editor John Olson Contents:- Article on wood restoration by Gregory Merrick on pages 1,4,5,12 and 13. Editorial and list of initial Board of Directors page 2, photos from Australia page 3, price lists page 6, 600 Forum page 7, Benzologist ad page 8, 6.3 Forum page 9,10 and 14, 6.9 Forum page 11, Safety Net and membership application page 15, Pininfarina 6.3 article page 16. I'll add some detail of what is in them as time goes by and I have time. The later ones are easier because they have a Table of Contents that I can scan. These earlier ones don't. Unfortunately, to get them small enough to post here, the text is barely or not readable. But, financial members will be able to get copies if available through the Store: and, but by no means certainly at this stage, we may be able to scan parts and articles for financial members. Time allowing, it may be possible for Gerrett to get them all into the Members Only Section of this website where a number of them already are, something which he has undertaken to do in the past but not had time to do to date. I am in the process of collecting extra LodeStar issues and putting the in the Store, for sale. I have basic info for issues up to LS 31. I would have scanned the covers but my scanner went screwy tonight.
Thanks to Art, John and Dan for starting this project.

Editor John Olson Contents are a list of 37 foundation members from 1990 and 44 1991/92 members and their cars, a 2 page editorial from John Olson, a brief treasurer's report, letters and responses to technical questions as in #4, a questionaire, a letter on technical manuals and a 3 page interview with Karl Petrilli. The lift out is the Safety Net and membership application form.

There have been some e.mails between founder John Olson, the executive and me about past issues of the Lode Star magazine. The Lode star is sent to all financial members of this Group, not to the website participants who are not financial members of the Group. The Group provides this website for the benefit of members and also for the benefit of non-members who have an interest in these and similar vehicles. Some editions of the Lode Star have been reproduced in the Members Only section of the website, but it only a minority. Current editor of the Lode Star is Anthony Long of Sydney, Australia. Ant is also the current Australian representative on the M-100 Group Board of Executives. The recent exchange of e.mails has prompted me to start this thread. John Olson was missing some editions and was looking to swap copies to complete his collection. This exchange has prompted me to put here reproductions of the front pages of the copies of Lode Star which I have. I may also include copies of the content pages in the hope that it might induce some of the non-member "users" of this Forum to consider formally joining the Group for the benefit of getting the magazine. I don't have copies of #1 or #2, neither of which were known as Lode Stars. If any of you do have copies of the communication Newsletters prior to November 1991, I would be very pleased if you would respond. The first Newsletter called Lode Star is dated 8/92 and John numbered it Communique #5. The one prior to that that I have is Communique No 4, Spring, 1992 and the one I am attaching the front page of tonight is not numbered but dated November, 1991, so I am regarding it as #3. If you can read it, it refers to an M-100 Letter of August/September, 1990 and also refers to a November '90 M-100 Letter, so I am regarding them as #1 and #2. However John also says at the start that he apologizes for not writing since February (1991), so I'm not sure whether there was a counting error or just an "informal" letter in February 1991. That predates my involvement in the Group. So, tonight I shall attach a copy of the front page of the first edition that I have, dated November 1991, rather along the same lines as all the work that Paul from Holland and others have done in other areas. Tomorrow, and as time allows, I shall add copies of the front pages of all subsequent Lode Stars and content pages as appropriate until I am up to date. At one a day, that will take over 50 days. I hope you enjoy the exercise. Art #3 (unnumbered) November 1991 3 printed pages, 4th page blank. Editor John Olson Contents are club initiation politics, Survey I results and a list of technical publications from Charles Schluter, Old Lyme, CT. Page 3 is Survey II. On page 15 of Lode star #9, John Olson provided a history of the Group to May 1993 from its inception in May 1989. In that he confirms Communique No 1 as November 1990 and Communique No 2 as February 1991 and reports the letter referred to in Communique 3 of August/September 1990 to have been his SL Market Letter. So that clarifies that part of the history. I shall not publish that History page here, because the 80Kb limit will not allow it to be legible. Anyone wanting to read it will need to buy a copy of Lode star #9 from the store.
