We have some delays in changing over the details on this website, so I need to ensure that any viewers who wish to join the Group or update their membership have the current correct detail for our new membership secretary. The address appearing in the Join section is WRONG and correspondence sent to Woolwich Township NJ address may not reach us.

Francis Abate has generously agreed to take over this role and his address is PO Box 880283, Steamboat Springs CO, 80488 and his e.mail fabate63@yahoo.com

Membership dues payments may still be made through the PayPal account, available through the M-100 Website.

In the past I got an Email every time, when my membershipspayment had to be done / renewed. I don't know nor can't tell, when I have to renew my dues ....

So an Email, when it is so far, would be appriciated ....
In the past I could pay via Paypal and for two years at once.
I would be glad if that would be continued ....

AND TO ALL:
HAPPY NEW YEAR and the best wishes from the Netherlands .....

Dear Paul,
I recently paid through paypal like last time, it worked. Sometimes even archaic payment instruments like checks have advantages. If I understood Jack correctly they are currently reviewing the history as last secretary and webmaster seems to be not available permanently. Money should go where it is supposed to go but "history" information seems to be one problem which might explain why the
ystem failed to remind you. Happy New Year!

Gerrett had a system where an e.mail was automatically sent when subscriptions were due. Unfortunately, because of the unexpected and sudden nature of his absence, we are having a lot of trouble finding out how he ran things. He had been membership and general secretary for many years. Gerrett made contact with Albert Plekker who assumed his other position as vice president. Al (and Charlie) made some progress with the website (Gerrett was also webmaster) but everything is currently stalled awaiting answers from Gerrett via Albert. I have not been able to get any response from Albert since early December. Albert has a list of questions for Gerrett that we need answered, and this topic should be added, but I have no idea what has happened to Albert - he was away on business in November.

Paul,
Your subs are due 1st February 2013. I had obtained a membership list from Gerrett late last year which includes address details, e.mail addresses and due dates for subscriptions of which I have sent a copy to Francis. It was fortunate that I had asked for that list or we would be in a lot more trouble. There will be trouble for a few people who joined after I obtained that list and before Francis took over, because they will not be on the list that I have. They may be on the list that the printers have for the Lode Star, and Anthony has access to that. That would depend on when Gerrett had updated that list.

It is taking longer to sort out the mess than I had hoped, but hopefully Albert will resurface soon and we can get on with it.

Now that we have the new website up and running, I want to bring this topic back up. The new website has the correct information in the Join section. As I said at the start, be were left in a hole when Gerrett was unable to contiue his duties. Board member, Francis Abate generously put his hand up to take over the secretary roles but had NO paperwork, such as a financial membership list or any job description. Fortunately, I had obtained the list from Gerrett not too long prior and I passed that on to Francis. It still left a few holes.

As I said in answer to Paul, Gerrett had an automated set up to send membership due notices. We don't know how he did it and it is lost in his computer. As a result of this and many other pressing matters, Francis is only now looking at the current financial and unfinancial membership status, some 8 months after the event because Lode Star #57 is at the printer and the mailing list has to go there for posting.

It appears that nearly half our members are currently unfinancial, not surprising after an 8 month period. We have made an executive decision to mail Lode Star #57 to everyone who was financial as of April 2012 on Gerrett's list. Francis (and Anthony Long for the Australians) are currently setting up to send subscription notices to all those members for whom subscriptions are due or overdue.

If any one reading this knows they are overdue and wish to continue or renew their membership, it will reduce Francis' work if you contact him and arrange to get your subscription up to date as soon as possible. Your assistance with this will be greatly appreciated by Francis who is doing this Group work on top of a very busy personal business workload. The Lode Star, when it comes, should have your due date printed on the mailing label with your address.

I am putting this in the General Discussion Forum rather than the Members Only Forum in order to reach as wide an audience as possible. It is important to realize that the existence of this website is due to the generosity of a few who have spent considerable amounts of their time to get it up and keep it up and running. At the same time, in order to have this new independent website over which we finally have control, the Group is now having to pay an independent server to host the site and there have been a number of additional costs necessary to get things sorted out. There will be further additional costs in order to improve the website along the lines suggested by Gar and Al so that it gets better and better for financial members as time allows some of us to input technical material and other material. There is also a cost that we have to pay to the company in Germany that make the M-B Club cards which give many of you access to the Classic Club Forums etc. You get nothing for nothing

A strong financial membership is critical to ensure the continued existance of the site. Without your support, the site cannot exist. We have been fortunate to have received a grant from Daimler in recognition of our 20 years of existance a year or more ago, and it has been this money which has allowed Jack English to pay the bills. We cannot continue to use this to maintain the Group, our annual subscriptions should be paying the day by day running costs and that money only used for extras.

Your support is greatly appreciated: please check with Francis if you think you might be overdue or would like to join and support this site.

Thanks,
Art

I'm trying to figure out when my membership is due as I renewed right around the time when a 6 month extension was given. Does this mean my next renewal date is 2 years and 6 months from date?

With best regards

Al

Is the m100 group membership list ever getting updated?
Art Love
It certainly should. I am unsure which membership list you are referring to. There is a list on this website which is NOT the financial membership list of the M-100 Group, but a list or those registered to post on this site. The Group does not restrict posting to financial members as some other sites do. I would have to ask our web masters how that list updates.

The Group financial membership list is the responsibility of our membership secretary. All these people have busy private and business lives and do this Group work in their spare private time, so when things get done depends a bit on their other commitments.
