If it weren't a 200 mile drive for me? I would. I may be down that way soon to get a tattoo done, and if so I'll swing through and look at it if still for sale, but I'm not really planning to get another W116 unless it's a parts car. ---------------- 1976 450SE 6.9 aka Frankenbenz

Values on 6.9's remain stubbornly low. This one in Portland looks pretty tight @ 10K.

A 6.9 in Portland is for sale: https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/ctd/d/beaverton-1977-mercedes-benz-w116-sel-69/6795829391.html
'77 Light Grey Ext, Blue Int. 6.9 109k miles, $17k #3184
I'm not a fan of the wheels, and it looks like it's sitting a little low, to me? Otherwise it looks to be a pretty stock car.

One of these cars got featured in NPOCP. It wasn't terribly friendly, but it did seem like an honest assessment of the car:

The 1979 450sel 6.9 with 54,000 miles on it is suspect. The seller leaves the VIN out in the ad description, yet it's in one of the pictures? Anyway, I plugged the VIN into EPC. It's a late enough car that the data card was on file, and it turns out that the car was originally Milan Brown Metallic. So it's had a color change.
Again, there seems to be a lot of confusion on the names of interior colors. In this new list Matt has made there are only two cars that have tobacco interior. The rest are bamboo or Cognac. Remember that tobacco is a dark chocolate colored brown. Cognac and Bamboo are pretty much the colors the say they are.
For the 1970 6.3 with 41,000 miles on it, it's actually velour interior. Mohair was never an option for a W108/W109 car.
Most of these mistakes are as the sellers have listed them. My purpose here is to only bring to light what's right and what's wrong.
As far as prices go.....if all of these cars were in Australia where they pay triple and quadruple for everything, then they'd be spot on. Otherwise, all I can say is that the world is full of dreamers. ;)

New update! I'm bored at work, so off we go! I skipped searching for 600's since that rarely produces accurate results, and leaves me sifting through a lot of garbage.

The burgundy 6.9 sold for around $12,000. The asking price was $10,000-$14,000 too high. Interior color is Bamboo, not tobacco.
The 1978 dark gray 6.9 is actually anthracite metallic with black leather. The leather looks gray because someone put the wrong cheap leather in the car. Mercedes only offered light gray leather, never dark. It's priced $2,000-$3,000 too high.
The light blue over blue 6.9 is actually gray blue metallic. It's a U.S. spec car with added on Euro headlights and wipers, and of course the Pent style wheels. If someone hadn't added these things, it would he a perfect original example. Even so, at $26,000 it's priced $10,000-$15,000 too high.
The green 1971 6.3 is an original color called Moss green metallic. Again, the interior is not tobacco brown. It's Cognac. Tobacco brown leather is a very dark brown. Cognac interiors are supposed to have burled walnut for the wood, but the dash has straight grained walnut. In light of the aforementioned, the price is about $6,000-$7,000 too high.
The 1968 gold colored 6.3 is actually Tunis Beige metallic. And, again, the interior is not tobacco. It's cognac. And also again, cognac interiors were to have burled walnut for the interior wood. This one also has straight grained walnut. Someone cheaped out on wood repair, it seems, both on this one and the green one. (notice on both cars that the wood on the doors is still burled walnut) It's priced $27,000-$22,500 too high.
The silver 600 SWB has been for sale for a few years now. There is a lot incorrect about the car cosmetically, and someone used cheap leather to recover the front seats. It's priced $105,000-$95,000 too high.....hence it having been for sale for so long.
Is the black 6.9 in Georgia or Nevada? It says Decatur and Charleston on the ad?
Thanks for the corrections as ever, Aaron. One of these days I'll actually get the names for the various colors correct. :) ---------------- 1976 450SE 6.9 aka Frankenbenz

That Orient Red with Bamboo 6.9 looks like is was a pretty nice car. I always loved that color, I once had a Euro 280E in that color with Sienna velour....very cool color and pretty rare on a 6.9.

Since it's too hot to work outside right now, I thought I'd take a break from yard work and Family to do another CL scan for cars. I've decided I'm not going to try and index eBay or Hemmings/etc cars: those are very easy to search. CL is a bit more effort to look up, so I'll keep doing so.

Nothing super new to see. Only two 6.9's I found for sale are previously posted, and still for sale at the same prices. I might need to write my own search function for Craigslist. The website I'm using is getting unreliable and a bit inconsistent.
