Wow thanks for taking the time to post all these pics! Very well documented.
Admin, can this be made a "sticky" perhaps?

I've made it "sticky" for you. There are not too many sticky's in the 6.9 Forum, so it is no problem to do it. The problem for me is that I have no idea what I do to actually look at the photos. I'm an old fart and not into flickr, twittr, bickr or lickr or most of the rest of that stuff, so can only see the first image. Hopefully those inclined to all this modern social media rubbish will enjoy. Time will tell and we will see if it reaches the many thousands of views that I usually use to decide on a "sticky". I also hope that John keeps paying those California billionaires who run this stuff so they don't have a hissy fit and delete all the content like photobucket have recently done - I am tired of looking at that silly empty gauge.
Enjoy, LOL,
Art

Here is a brief summary of the engine rebuild for #6235:
- Right camshaft and lifter galley starved for oil due to sludge blockage causing lifer to collapse and rocker to come loose
- Chain reaction broke cam bearings and resulted in substantial camshaft wear
- Engine and transmission removed from car
- Engine completely disassembled, cleaned, inspected and repaired
- Dry sump oil system and resevoir removed for cleaning
- All engine components cleaned and glass beaded
- All engine hardware re-plated with yellow zinc plating after inspection and repair/replacement, as needed
- All non-steel mounting brackets were sand blasted and powder coated
- All steel parts painted, as needed
- Crankshaft found to be within wear limits
- Crankshaft polished to restore bearing surfaces, as well as balanced
- All oil galley and core plugs were removed from engine block before being vatted and having oil falleys rodded out
- Engine block measured for wear at machine shop and found to be just on the edge of tolerance limits
- New Euro spec (8.8:1 compression ratio) pistons sourced from Mahle in Germany (107.5mm oversize)
- Cylinders honed at machine shop to fit new pistons
- Connecting rod wrist pin bushings replaced and honed to fit new wrist pins and big ends sized to fit
- Crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons were precision balanced as an assembly
- Engine block cleaned and interior painted with Glyptol
- New oil galley plugs installed in engine block and exterior painted before installing plated core plugs
- Factory cast iron one piect oil control ring and cast iron piston rings were replaced with modern style, low tension rings and three piece oil ring sets before final assembly
- Engine block re-asembled and with standard size new main and rod bearings and new front and realr main seals
- All internal timing chain guides replaced
- Oil pump machined to tighten internal tolerances before being installed with a new drive chain and tensioner
- Cylinder heads completely dis-assembled, cleaned and glass beaded
- Due to previous valve job the cylinder heads did not need to be completely rebuilt
- Valves lapped before final cleaning of all components, then re-assembled the cylinder heads with new valve seals
- Right side camshaft, camshaft bearings and rocker arms replaced due to damage related to collapsed hydraulic lifter
- All hydraulic lifters replaced
- Three rocker arms on left camshaft replaced due to minor wear
- Due to replacement of the right camshaft and all lifters, the valvetrain required several new valve rocker shims to bring the lifter pre-load into specification
- All consumables, including gaskets, seals, etc. were replaced with new components
- New shaft seals were installed on the power steering pump before it was painted and installed
- Before final installation, engine and transmission were mounted on an engine test stand for testing abd brak-in purposes
- Engine operated for several hours over two week period, during which time it was tested for leaks and tuned, as required
- Cylinder heads re-torqued after testing, lifter pre-load checked and corrected, and several oil changes performed during testing
- Engine and transmission assembly re-installed with additional new parts, as needed, including engine mount dampers, assorted bulk hoses, and vacuum lines
- New wiring harness for fuel injection and sending units fabricated
- Engine tested and car driven approx. 350 miles before returning to owner
- Car runs BEAUTIFULLY

Nice summary to go with the pictures. Still doesn't tell me how to actually see the pictures. Do I have to join Twitter or Flickr or whatever because I would hate to have to do that - I get enough cr*p from having joined Facebook[xx(]!

Hi Art. You shouldn't need a password or even be required to register to view the photos on Flickr. The album is open to the public so is accessible to all. With 470 photos this is the only way to distribute them.
