600 leather seats
Author Last Post

Charles, I'd like to start a conversation here, in general discussions which is accessible to financial and forum only members so we can ask what the punters want in forum software, canvas platform suggestions and recommendations, outline the process in migrating the old content etc.

I'll copy your last post and this on and start a new thread.

Basically begin the process of delivering the product the consumer wants and will flock too.

Unfortunately, as is evident, we on the board either don't have the knowledge to go it along on another forum, we need someone with that skill set, and the motivation and passion to deliver.

I'll message shortly on that last point 👍

the choice of forum software made several years ago was a poor one in retrospect. This is the third incarnation of the forum. The first one was managed by a CTO who had the support of his office IT staff to keep the technical end of it up. The second incarnation was the same software, different IT staff (I was a less member of that second group of IT people), when my term on the board expired and the real IT guys had to step back too, the board went with this based on promises made by the vendor. It has been less than thrilling.

No clue what the board is doing on getting out of it at the moment. Since I don't much to contribute to that discussion, I can't praise or fault whatever deliberations are going on, other than to wonder when they'll act.

Here's hoping that " there is a happy ending to it" ! :)

I came across an advert in April/May for the car on Hemmings. The dealer was Gallery Junction - they were quoting a lot less than the 70k that was mentioned in your thread in Jan. It was only after I had bought the car that I became aware of the M-100 club and subsequently I joined up and came across your mention of it - do you recall who the seller was that you spoke to ?

The info. on the forum is priceless and a great resource to have access to.

Activity on the forum seems to have slowed significantly in recent years, perhaps migrating to fb. It's a pity cos I'm not a fan of that particular platform.

that was my post! I was originally suspicious about the car being on craig's list as click bait, but after chatting with the seller a bit I was happy to post the lead here. I am very glad it came to fruition and that there is a happy ending for it.

That is what this club and this forum is all about.

Cheers!

Cheers, it's a great forum. Happy to contribute where I can. Car is here in Dublin, Ireland. I bought it in California in May and shipped it back here. The car got a mention on the 600 forum in Jan 2021 - " RHD Car 50 just popped up in California ".

The project to bring her back to her former glory is underway....and so the fun has begun ! :)

The dealer had very limited history so I've been doing lots of my own research to trace the past owners. I'll probably start a new thread within a month or so to see if any of the guys on here can help with info. on owners.

Thanks for chiming in BrenzBenz. All contributions are valued, by god we need them!

Where are you located with the RHD car?

Newish member here, not brilliant with pc/forum posting skills :( apologies in advance for any silly errors - this is my first reply/post ...KHM can be found at www.cabrio.de, German based. They supply copies of original leathers ,including perforation detail, and they also supply repro replacement carpets. I am currently awaiting delivery of new leathers and carpets for a 1964 600 SWB ( car no. 50 - 1st ever rhd swb off the production line ). I am reliably informed that their products are excellent. Delivery timescale is around 6 weeks. They are pretty expensive ( as is everything for a 600 :) at €5k + €1k tax for leather and carpet set is €680 + tax. Communication can be a little cumbersome as English is not their natural language.

I think there are more options in Europe, KHM (or something like that) and GAHH???

A chap on Facebook, Mark Firth, who restored a W112 Coupe correctly sourced the original surface dyed leather, again from Europe, and had the covers fitted and made in the UK, which just isn't practical from Oz.

I have no solid leads so hopefully those that know better will chime in.

My 1970 swb 600 that I've owned for 37 years now is f-i-n-a-l-l-y on its way from New Zealand to my new home on the Gold Coast in Australia, and I'll be stripping it down to bare metal for a change from black to cream or pale gold. I'm also changing the grey velour interior to red leather and want to know what's the best source for the correct perforated leather seat covers.

I contacted World Interiors in the USA some time ago but the reply I got was they don't do the 600 seats any more, although that doesn't sound right. Can anyone enlighten me ?
